Water-saving shower gel & wooden toothbrushes
Gift set containing shower gel and body lotion
The company “stop the water while using me!” produces natural cosmetics in Germany. All products are made without artificial aromas, colouring or preservatives, do not contain silicone or paraffin, and are of course not tested on animals. The company’s slogan is designed to encourage us to save water in the simplest and most effective way – when showering and bathing. This gift set has the fresh and tangy scent of sage and cedar wood.
It can be purchased at various stores, including Changemaker (CHF 49.90)
Toothbrush gift set
This set contains two bamboo toothbrushes, a bamboo fibre cup, and fluoride-free toothpaste. The toothbrush handles are compostable. The bristles are BPA-free and available in different strengths. The set is manufactured by Hydrophil, a Hamburg-based company that is also dedicated to reducing water waste. In particular, they strive to offer alternatives to plastic. Their products are water neutral and produced fairly. They donate 10% of their profits to Viva con Aqua, an organisation that works to ensure that everyone has access to clean drinking water.
The sets can be purchased directly from the Hydrophil online shop (approximately CHF 18)
Vegetables delivered to your door & bees that help cut down on plastic
Seasonal basket from Farmy
Farmy has modernised its farm shop and enables a wide range of local producers to sell their products in a larger area. The aspect that impresses us the most is the fruit and vegetable subscriptions. You can select the size and delivery date, and fresh, seasonal vegetables will soon be delivered to your door. A wonderful present! Take a look at their website, where a large range of guaranteed “Swiss made” products awaits you.
The perfect alternative to clingfilm and kitchen foil. Bee’s Wrap cloths are manufactured by hand in Vermont (USA). They are made of GOTS-certified cotton, sustainably-sourced beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin. The cloths are antibacterial and can be moulded to any shape. After use, you can wash them with soap and water and reuse them as much as you like for up to a year. The wraps can then simply be composted.
They can be purchased at various stores, including Changemaker (set of three sizes, CHF 24.90)
What about a goat or a tree?
Plant a tree
The organisation Primaklima has been working to preserve forests around the world for 26 years. To date, they have planted more than 13.5 million trees. By giving a donation or buying a gift, you can support Primaklima’s ongoing projects, which are currently based in Nicaragua and Germany, where a school forest is being planted. Visit Primaklima’s website to find out more useful information about their projects and discover how you can give your loved one the gift of a tree.
Goats, drinking water or an entire classroom
If you fancy giving unusual gifts like these to your loved ones, look no further than Oxfam Unwrapped – although it goes without saying that no actual goats will be wrapped in gift paper!
